My New Camper Trailer

I told you in my last blog that I had decided to buy myself a tiny camper trailer designed to be towed behind a large motor bike or a small car.  I had decided on the Elite Products Sprinter with brakes and 12 volt system with solar panel charger.  It finally arrived in the second week of January but first I had to sell my old box trailer.

The new Camper Trailer, from now on CT, was delivered by road to Maroochidore about 40Km away.  I legally towed it to the Noosa Motor Vehicles Dept. where I registered it and towed it home.

I decided to set it up on my front lawn so after positioning and leveling the CT I took off the cover and unpacked the annex, poles and tent pegs etc.  Next I pulled out the tent from the trailer and clambered inside to push up the bows which supported the tent.  The   video shows it taking a few minutes - after three hours I filially got the   tent up but the   far end was too far off the ground to peg down so I used elastic cords to hold it down.  Next I gave it a thorough soaking with the hose to season the canvas.  As I stopped it started raining and did so for three days  without stopping.

When it did I put up the annex. It can go at the front, pod/towbar end, or at the rear, trailer access door end.  I chose the former.  This is a difficult exercise for a height challenged  person but now I had a secret weapon I had used to set up the tent - a step ladder.  I took about an hour  before it was all up.

Next after it had dried out I packed it away again for the real thing - the annual Sunshine Coast  Bicycle Touring Club Noosa North Shore Camping Weekend - well we did do it last year as well.  This was  great success and I only took two hours putting the CT up before joining in the bike rides an debauchery which which are common at these gatherings - we actually play silly games.

I decided to go to another camping ground to see how I went on my own so drove to the Lake Barumba Deer Park near Imbil  where Margaret and I took our caravan on its first outing 15 years ago and nearly got trapped by a big flood.  This time it just rained heavily  as I packed all away so I had to unpack it all, clean off all the mud and dry it off in the garage.

Louis had stayed at home being looked after by Jenny who is my house sitter.  He wasn't too fussed at me coming home but made a fuss when Jenny went home.

Now I am back in Imbil at Island  Reach typing this up but more in my next blog.
