Anyway two week ago I went to Tin Can Bay. about 150Km away, for a weekend camp with my CT. I had had the new axle fitted and I wanted a trial run before my long trip.
There are two ways to Tin Can Bay from Tewantin. One has a few kilometres of gravel roads so I took that to try out the CT on rough roads. It behaved perfectly.
This was a different weekend to the last two as I was going to a caravan park with power and I was not cooking any meals. The Tin Can Bay Tourist Park was really great. I was met by Mel, the co-owner who gave me a nice grass powered site and when I said that it was only my third trip in the CT offered to send her husband, Steve , to help me set up. Actually Steve has only one arm but is tall and strong. We both saw the funny side of me being small and clapped out and Steve being tall and strong. Mel and Steve had many years of camping using a CT and had worked out a method of setting up. Steve did the heavy lifting and Mel the stuff requiring two arms.
I set up on my own without too much difficulty. I took a long walk around Tin Can Bay which Margaret and I had visited in our caravan in 1999 and stayed at another rather crappy caravan park but Margaret liked the area.
I went for a long walk before going off in my car to buy dinner from the Snack Shack. I had a Fisherman's Basket which was enormous and I had to leave about half of it. Louis was back at home with his minder, Jenny but he would have loved the left overs. It was a very warm night and there was a lot of rain so the tent was very humid and I opened up all my windows to get some cool air as I slept on top of my sleeping bag. The tent was dry.
On Saturday morning ( I left on Friday afternoon) I took and early morning walk around the bay. The tide was out but it was still attractive. I had a snack at the most inland part of the bay before returning to camp and spending the afternoon reading my Kindle in the shade of my tent.
Dinner that night was a hamburger from the Snack Shack. Again I could only eat half. It was another warm night but there was no rain.
On Sunday I road my little bike around the bay before driving about 50Km to Rainbow Beach where I had lunch at the local surf club before going back to the CT for an afternoon nap. I bought some cheese and biscuits for dinner and had a great sleep in cooler conditions.
On Monday morning I had my normal orange juice, toasted fruit loaf and tea before packing up and driving back to Tewantin via Gympie. This was worse than the the dirt road as there were road works over 20Km before Cooroy. I was home by 12.00noon and much to my disgust found that the brakes on the new axle were leaking hydraulic fluid. I had this fixed last week.
It was a nice quiet weekend at a great caravan park
