It's an ill wind that blows no good

My kitchen is finished.  The installer arrived on Monday 25 June when I had hoped to be riding my bicycle along the Mary Valley.  Actually as this blog states it wasn't entirely a bad thing as we had a week of terrible weather with high winds and heavy rain so I was happy to be home.

The first thing the installer said was that he wouldn't be able to complete the job as the pantry door and trim had not arrived!  He did how ever complete the cupboards along the window wall of the kitchen and rebuild the cupboards around the free-standing electric oven.  The next day the electrician reconnected the oven and cook top and I had a working kitchen again.  Later in the day the new pantry door and trim arrived and all was complete.  There are a couple of areas where I will have to touch up the paint work but all in all it looks really good.

I have steam cleaned the floor tiles and  I have a great looking new kitchen.

As I was home I did an additional couple of Meals on Wheels deliveries during the week and managed to dodge most of the rain.  The school holidays also started on the 25th and our little town was full of tourists and their kids grumbling about the rotten weather.  On the Wednesday we had 88mm of rain, a June record.  Winter is our dry season!  I did however get my normal Saturday morning club rides in without getting too wet.

I am not sure if I will get away at the end of July as the weather is continuing to be very wet.  I managed a 60Km ride through Cooroy and Pomona last Tuesday 3rs July but it has rained most days since then.  We got wet on our Saturday ride.

I am now planning my next upgrade to the house which is likely to be replacing all the carpets with vinyl floor planks (i.e. artificial wood).  The carpets are fourteen years old and with the dogs,  traipsed in mud and general wear and tear are looking a bit sad.  I an also planning a little courtyard in the front of the house where I had a tree removed this time last year.

I an typing this laying back in my big recliner arm chair with my little note pad balanced on the arm  and Louis flat out across my lap.  He feels a bit wet from his early morning walk. The park is very wet and muddy and I have been wearing my Wellington boots while walking.  My friend, Betty, and I both wear our wellies and look real dorks but dry dorks!!

I had to have a couple of tests on an enlarged Parotid Gland which was noticed following some dental work and first thought to be caused by an infection.  As antibiotics didn't have any affect I had an Ultrasound of the gland followed by a guided fine-needle aspiration which showed a non malignant cyst which will be left alone for the time being.

Apart from that I am fine except for going stir crazy because of the rain!!
