I set out to circumnavigate the Burleigh Heads National Park rainforest walk which is an easy 45 t0 60 minute 2.3Km walk.
The walk started from just outside out apartment block at the end of the esplanade.
This Brush Turkey was my companion for some time before being scared by joggers
.
The white building in the middle distance down by esplanade is the Surf Club.
After I got Helen went for a swim in the apartment block pool.
Then it was off to Sea World which is probably the best theme park on thr Gold Coast. This meant a drive through tar concrete jungle of Surfers Paradise and South Port to the northern end of the Gold Coast and passed the tallest building in Australia Q1 . We has pre-purchased tickets so were quickly inside.
I had a new camera which took videos so I gave my little video camera to Helen. Later I realised that I didn't know how to stop recording on my new camera:) Luckily Helen has posted some videos on her FaceBook page.
The trick at Sea World is to plan your time so as to visit the the the set presentations early as they become very busy later in the day. Our first objective was the favourite with all kids from three to seventy six, in my case, the Seals.
The start of the show with the big seal in the front of the boat.
This is the big seal and star of the show.
The show was interactive with the audience and this lady was about to receive a very fishy kiss from the seal.
Next it was over to the dolphin pool.
This show was impressive as the dolphins have been mostly bred at Sea World and really enjoy performing .
We spent some time wandering around looking a the other attractions then Helen took a short helicopter flight over Surfers Paradise and Sea World. She has posted a video on her FaceBook page.
The empty helicopter pad.
Helen about to board her flight.
I was taken by the pelicans who have all be injured in some way and are living out their life at Sea World. They have a large area and sea water pool to swim in.
The rest of the day is a bit of a blur. We visited the Sting Rays, Polar Bears and Shark areas and also took a trip on the monorail train which makes a circuit around the Sea World site. We left after 4.00pm having been there for over six hours. We were both exhausted.
We staggered to the Surf Club at 6.00pm for our steak dinner and a bottle of red wine following which we went to bed at 8.30pm
A great day.
